Where does Phoneya's data come from?

Four sources. The first is the Federal Trade Commission's Do Not Call complaint database. The second is the Federal Communications Commission's consumer complaints about unwanted calls and texts, which records whether a call was prerecorded, live, abandoned, or a text message. Both are official US government data. The third is reports submitted by visitors, each screened before publication. The fourth is Live Call Sensors: Phoneya-owned research numbers that use AI to screen incoming calls, with observations reviewed before publication. We label which source backs every number so you can judge the evidence yourself.

How can I report a scam number?

Search for the phone number on our site, then use the report form on that number's page. Select a category (scam, telemarketing, etc.) and describe your experience. Every report is screened before publication.

Can I remove my phone number from Phoneya?

Yes. Search for your phone number, then use the 'Request Removal' button at the bottom of the page. Removal requests are processed within 24-48 hours.

How do I know if a phone number is a scam?

Look up the number on Phoneya. Numbers with FTC or FCC complaints, multiple user reports labeling them as scams, or high robocall rates are flagged as potentially dangerous. A number reported to both agencies independently is stronger evidence than the same number of complaints from one source. We also show community reports describing the caller's behavior.

Does no reports mean a number is safe?

No. An absence of reports only means nobody has told us about that number yet — new scam numbers are used before anyone reports them. Treat an unreported number as unknown, not safe: let it go to voicemail and never share personal or payment details with a caller you did not verify.
